Abstract
High resolution aeromagnetic data of eastern part of Sokoto Basin was used to estimate its basement depth. Euler deconvolution and Source Parameter Imaging (SPI) techniques were applied on the total magnetic intensity map (TMI) of the study area. The study area comprises of four sheets, sheet numbers- 28 (Argungu), 29 (Dange), 50 (Tambuwal), and 51 (Gummi), which lie between latitude 120N to 130N and longitude 4030’E to 5030’E. The result from Euler deconvolution technique indicated the maximum depth of the study area to be 2.45km on SE of sheet no. 29, while SPI technique indicated a maximum depth of 1.7km around the same area. A good correlation in terms of depth estimation and location was observed of the two interpretational techniques applied in this work. These areas of relatively high sedimentary thicknesses are potential area of hydrocarbon maturation.

Key words: Sedimentary thickness, Euler deconvolution, Source Parameter Imaging, Basement depth, Hydrocarbon maturation.
